Crafting seems to have replaced boss farming in terms of methods to get the best gear. Dragoon Gear is almost exclusively crafted, though people CAN farm it from bosses. The Karemelle gear, which has some worthwhile upgrades, needs to be crafted. In Wintertusk you can even get craftable gear that is on par with waterworks gear!
